Scottsdale Booking Quick Facts
Scottsdale Police Records Request
Request Scottsdale Police records through their system at scottsdaleaz.gov. The department also has an online portal at eservices.scottsdaleaz.gov/pdrecordsrequest for submitting requests electronically.
Personal criminal history record searches cost $10 per search and must be done in person. Search results cost $5 per report for the first 30 pages, then 25 cents per page after that.
Scottsdale Records Processing Times
Scottsdale Police has significant backlogs for records requests. General document inquiries currently have an 8 to 10 month wait time. Requests for body camera footage take even longer at 12 to 14 months. These delays apply to non-urgent requests.
Plan ahead if you need Scottsdale police documents. The backlog affects all request types. For urgent needs, contact the records division at 480-312-1999 to discuss options. The office is at 8401 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. Lobby hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Note: These backlogs are for police documents, not jail booking records. Maricopa County handles booking info separately.
Scottsdale Arrests and County Booking
Scottsdale arrests go to Maricopa County jails for booking. The county sheriff runs the jail system serving all Phoenix metro cities. Scottsdale does not operate its own jail. All arrests result in county booking. To find someone arrested by Scottsdale Police, search the Maricopa County inmate search. This is separate from Scottsdale police records.
The county system shows current inmates, charges, and bond info. It updates more quickly than police document requests. Enter the person's name and date of birth to search. Use it for immediate booking information. For detailed arrest reports explaining what happened, go through Scottsdale Police despite the longer wait. Results show which facility holds the person.
See the Maricopa County page for more jail information. The county jail line is (602) 876-0322 for phone inquiries about custody status.
Arizona Booking Records Law
Scottsdale booking records fall under Arizona's public records statutes. ARS 39-121 establishes the right to inspect public records during office hours. This applies to police reports, arrest logs, and booking documents from both Scottsdale Police and Maricopa County.
The statute at ARS 41-1750 addresses criminal history records. It exempts police blotters and daily arrest logs from stricter restrictions. This means booking information can be released shortly after an arrest occurs. The law allows contemporaneous disclosure of arrest data.
Some information must be withheld. Victim names and contact details get redacted under ARS 13-4434. Juvenile records stay confidential. Active investigation files may be held until cases close. These rules protect privacy while allowing public access to most booking records.
VINE Custody Notification
The Arizona VINE system provides custody notifications statewide. VINE tracks inmates in Maricopa County jails where Scottsdale arrests go for booking. Crime victims can register to receive automatic alerts when custody status changes.
Register at vinelink.com or call 1-800-247-9763. Choose to receive alerts by phone, email, text, or through the VINE mobile app. The service operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Registration is free and confidential. VINE sends alerts when inmates are released, transferred, or escape custody.
Note: Given Scottsdale's long records backlog, VINE provides a faster way to track custody changes than waiting for police documents.
