Tempe Police Records Request

Tempe Police uses JustFOIA for public records. Access the portal at tempe.justfoia.com. Submit requests for police reports, accident reports, arrest reports, body camera footage, and fingerprint cards. The system tracks each request and lets you check status online.

Tempe Police JustFOIA portal for booking records

The JustFOIA system tracks requests and sends email updates. It is convenient for formal documentation. Each request gets a number so you can check progress. The system notifies you when records are ready. You can also use BuyCrash for traffic accident reports, which may be available faster than going through general records.

Include as much detail as possible when submitting requests. The date of incident, names involved, and case numbers help staff locate files quickly. Vague requests take longer because staff must search more broadly to find matching records.

Tempe Arrests and County Booking

Tempe Police transport arrestees to Maricopa County jails. The county runs the regional jail system serving all Phoenix metro cities. Tempe does not have its own jail. All arrests result in transport to county facilities. The booking process happens at one of the county jail locations.

For current custody status, search the Maricopa County inmate search. Enter the person's name and date of birth to find their record. The county search shows who is in jail right now with charges and bond info. It updates faster than police records processing. Use it for immediate booking questions.

The county jail information line is (602) 876-0322. Staff can confirm custody status by phone and provide bond amounts. See the Maricopa County page for more jail details about facilities and visiting.

Arizona Booking Records Law

Tempe booking records fall under Arizona's public records statutes. ARS 39-121 establishes the right to inspect public records during office hours. This applies to police reports, arrest logs, and booking documents from Tempe Police and Maricopa County.

The statute at ARS 41-1750 addresses criminal history records specifically. It exempts police blotters and daily arrest logs from stricter restrictions. This means booking information can be released shortly after an arrest occurs. The law allows contemporaneous disclosure of arrest data to the public.

Some information must be withheld or redacted. Victim names and contact details get removed under ARS 13-4434. Juvenile records remain confidential. Active investigation files may be held until cases close. These exemptions protect privacy while allowing public access to most booking records.

VINE Custody Notification
